Public input needed: What does Houston look like to you?

Submissions accepted through July 15.

The next large-scale public art installation at Discovery Green is in the works and we need your help shaping it.

Here’s how you can help:

Close your eyes for a second and think of Houston: Tell us, what images float through your mind? Do you imagine the downtown skyline or the outline of a grackle? Do you think of the steel beams of the Astrodome or a garden full of azaleas?

Your answers to this question will feature prominently in an art installation, Mosaic of Light by HYBYCOZO coming to the park in November.

A mosaic consists of a combination of diverse elements that make a coherent whole. We can’t think of a better metaphor for Houston.

As part of the art installation HYBYCOZO will create two site-specific pieces with inspiration drawn from Houstonians that answers the question: What does Houston look like to you?

HYBYCOZO is a design studio created by two artists, Serge Beaulieu and Yelena Filipchuk who use laser cut patterns to create larger-than-life sculptures celebrating geometric forms, patterns light and shadow. The photo above is a rendering of the installation.

Part of Discovery Green’s mission is to shine a light on the diversity of talents that enrich Houstonians lives. We want your input on what that looks like to you.
