This year Spring Break week included fun foamy and festive activities, check out the schedule below. Spring Break week is part of the Families and Children series presented by Shell

Mad Science Monday, March 14 

Monday, 12-4pm

Girls Inc. of Houston will host hands on activities beginning at 12pm (limited quantities available). Crafts include penny robots, water tension and a vinegar experiment!
 
12-12:30pm 
o Enjoy Mad Science Monday starting with a live ice carving performance by Reverend Butter of Houston based DLG Ice Factory. (located on the Anheuser-Busch Stage)
 
1:30pm 
o Mad Science will dazzle children with a 45 minute Fire and Ice show. (located on the Anheuser-Busch Stage)
 
12-4pm
o The Houston Public Library Express at Discovery Green will be open. 
 

Touch-a-Truck Tuesday, March 15

Tuesday,12-4pm

Girls Inc. of Houston will host hands on activities beginning at 12pm (limited quantities available). Activities include puff mobile, and paper water lily crafts. 
 
12-4pm
o Kids will have the opportunity to get up and close to some of their favorite trucks including construction vehicles, a fire truck and more!
o The Houston Public Library Express at Discovery Green will be open. 

Workshop Wednesday, March 16

Wednesday, 12-4pm

Girls Inc. of Houston will host hands on activities beginning at 12pm (limited quantities available). Activities include marshmallow catapult and chromatography. 
 
11:30 – 11:50 am
o HGOco’s First Songs: Young children from birth to preschool age, along with their caregivers will learn soothing songs through the joy of reading. A teaching artist will help participants use music as a tool to interact with their young ones during reading time. (located on the Anheuser-Busch Stage)
 
12 – 12:50 pm
o HGOco’s Storybook Opera: An engaging and enjoyable introduction to opera for young children lead by our singing storytellers in 30 minute segments of captivating fun! A variety of books, as well as opera themed stories will be told in English and bilingual English-Spanish presentations. (located on the Anheuser-Busch Stage)
 
12-1pm
o Screening of a new Houston PBS Kids TV show "Take the Stage" with improvisational poetry game to follow. (located on the Cullen Veranda)

1-2pm
o Writing Workshop with Writers in The Schools (located on the deck near Jones Lawn)

2-3pm
o Poetry Workshop with Writers in The Schools (located on the deck near Jones Lawn)

3-4pm
o Dance Workshop and performance by Break Free Community Center’s Hip Hop School (located on the Anheuser-Busch Stage)

Theatrical Thursday, March 17

Thursday, 12-4pm

Girls Inc. of Houston will host hands on activities beginning at 12pm (limited quantities available).  Crafts include racing leprechauns and windsock.
 
11:30 – 11:50 am
o HGOco’s First Songs: Young children from birth to preschool age, along with their caregivers will learn soothing songs through the joy of reading. A teaching artist will help participants use music as a tool to interact with their young ones during reading time. 
 
12 – 12:50 pm

o Explore the properties of air and air pressure with Mad Science in their "Up, Up and Away" show. A few lucky kids will get to ride on the Mad Science hovercraft. (located on the Anheuser-Busch Stage)

FUNomenal Friday, March 18

Friday, 12-4pm

Girls Inc. of Houston will host hands on activities beginning at 12pm (limited quantities available). Crafts include straw rockets and owl pellets. 
 
11:30 – 11:50 am

o Discover how much fun you can have with the fundamentals of physics and chemistry with Mad Science during their “Spin, Pop, Boom!” show. (located on the Anheuser-Busch Stage)
