Discovery Green is celebrating the first-ever nationwide Vote Early Day with a special chalk mural from Houston artist Anat Ronen. The mural is located on the Performance Plaza.
Vote Early Day on October 24 aims to help all eligible voters learn about their early voting options. The coronavirus pandemic has presented Americans with unprecedented obstacles and uncertainty when it comes to voting. It is important for voters to know their options and to make a plan to cast a ballot in this election.
This art highlights the importance of civic engagement, the opportunity to vote early, and the core issues driving people to the polls. Please visit harrisvotes.com and make a plan to vote now! When Americans vote early, they ensure that last-minute problems – from long lines and safety concerns to a bad commute – won’t keep them from casting their ballot.
From the fight for suffrage to today, chalk art has long been used as a tool for communication in times of social movement and change. Chalk is a way to claim ownership of our streets with a visual presence and engage with our community and meet new people. We are proud to carry on this legacy and use chalk to turn people out for this year’s election.
Vote Early Day is a coalition of more than 2,500 organizations and businesses that have joined together to spread the word about voting early. This project is completed in partnership with MTV and Vote For Your Life. As part of the Vote For Your Life Campaign, MTV is creating art installations and digital events in more than 20 cities across the country to make sure that the more than 230 million Americans who are eligible to vote early know their options.
