Art Carts

Rocket Dog is Discovery Green’s mascot, an “art cart” created by legendary art car artist/educator Rebecca Bass and her students who transformed a golf cart using found and recycled objects.

Rebecca Bass is credited with pioneering the art car as a teaching tool and has won numerous top prizes at the Art Car Parade. The art cars she’s created with her students have been shown in places as far flung as Europe and are collected by museums around the country. Created in 2007 in anticipation of Discovery Green’s opening, the art cart was an immediate attraction.

In more normal times, the art cart is filled to the brim with lawn games, bocce balls, horseshoes, croquet sets and other fun-time goodies. These items are available to the public to borrow while in the park.
