FREE, Family Friendly Concert Series – Jazzy Sundays in the Parks – Returns to Trio of Houston’s Favorite Green Spaces on March 3

HOUSTON – The immensely popular series, Jazzy Sundays in the Parks, returns beginning on March 3 at Emancipation Park. The series celebrates the vibrancy and rich tradition of jazz and the incredible Houstonians who preserve the artform. Jazzy Sundays, made possible by a grant from Kinder Foundation, is organized by Discovery Green Conservancy in collaboration with Emancipation Park Conservancy and Buffalo Bayou Partnership.
The concerts will be held Sundays, March 3, 10, 17 and 24 at Emancipation Park; every Sunday in April at
Buffalo Bayou Park; and Sundays, May 5, 12 and 26 and June 2 at Discovery Green from 5-7 p.m. All concerts are free and family friendly. Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs. Food and drink will be available for purchase. A pop-up market will be on site at each park with locally crafted items, food and wearables.
From classic jazz to zydeco, blues and more, this year’s production kicks off at Emancipation Park on March 3 with tunes from R&B vocalist and songwriter, TK Soul, before moving to Buffalo Bayou Park on April 7, where parkgoers can sway to the progressive jazz hits from Grammy-winning musical duo, Ghost-Note. The programming concludes at Discovery Green, kicking off on May 5 with the Latin jazz super group assembled by Grammy-winning Tim Ruiz. A feature performance by award-winning, MacArthur Genius Cécile McLorin Salvant will be at Discovery Green on May 26.
The official Jazzy Sundays in the Parks artist for 2024 is Houston artist Robert Hodge. KTSU is the official media sponsor.
