April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and DePelchin Children’s Center is raising awareness on how Houstonians can become champions for children. Founded in 1892, DePelchin is a nonprofit organization in Houston with the mission to strengthen the lives of children by enhancing their physical well-being. They seek to support and sustain children and the families who are for them.

This month DePelchin installed 5,622 purple pinwheels on the Sarofim Lawn at Discovery Green. Each one represents a victim of child abuse in Harris County last year.
