A welcoming environment with designated times for skaters with special physical or developmental challenges to enjoy the rink. Take to the ice with a friend, caregiver or family member to skate or roll and experience newfound freedom or a sense of accomplishment.

ACTIVITY:
The rink will have fewer skaters than during normal operating hours. A “calming zone” will be available off the rink for anyone who might need to get away from the hustle and bustle of the rink.

SUPPORT:
Double-bladed skates and/or ice shoes will be available for caretakers on the ice with new skaters or skaters with special needs. Only non-motorized wheelchairs will be allowed on the ice.

SNACKS:
The Lake House will have plenty of hamburgers, hotdogs, tacos and snacks available. For skaters with special dietary needs please feel free to bring your own food from home. Note: outside food not permitted during regular open hours.

SAFETY:
Emergency medical personnel will be on site if needed. You may want to bring your own helmet.

NOISE:
Enjoy kid and autism-friendly music at a volume suitable for sensitive listeners.

PARKING:
Handicap parking available in the parking garage. Metered parking is free for vehicles with valid disability plates or placard. (Time limits apply.) Skater drop off recommended at the corner of McKinney and Crawford.

NOTE: Non-motorized wheelchairs allowed on The Ice every day. Double-bladed skates or ice shoes for caretakers are only allowed during special skaters time. Outside food is not permitted during regular business hours.

WEATHER:
Ice Powered by Green Mountain Energy will close if weather conditions require it. Please check the website discoverygreen.com or call 713-434-RINK.
