Deep in the Heart: A Texas Music Series with 30footFALL with Municipal Bats and DJ Mexican Blackbird

Celebrate the sounds of the Lone Star State during Discovery Green’s new Deep in the Heart Concert Series, a free weekly concert series showcasing the best of Texas artists. Spanning Americana, country, Tejano, indie rock, blues, folk and roots music, the series highlights the incredible depth and diversity of Texas musicians while creating a vibrant community gathering in the heart of downtown. 

30footFALL 

30footFALL is an American punk rock band hailing from Houston, Texas. Established in 1993, they have released albums on FEARLESS, NITRO and People of Punk Rock Records. Their lineup includes Butch Klotz on vocals, Rubio Cisneros on bass, Chris Vasquez on guitar and Brian Davis on drums. Their popularity grew through relentless touring of the Houston, Dallas and Austin  

Municipal Bats 

Municipal Bats is a relentless noise rock trio from Houston, Texas, formed in 2020 with a sound that blends raw dissonance, crushing riffs, and primal rhythms. Municipal Bats create a fierce, unfiltered sonic assault that’s as unnerving as it is captivating. Known for their explosive live shows and uncompromising approach to songwriting, Municipal Bats merges post-punk tension, industrial grit, and a touch of Southern sludge into their unique sound. Whether shredding through a wall of noise or locking into a hypnotic groove, bringing a relentless energy to their performances, always pushing the limits of what rock music can be. 

DJ Mexican Blackbird 

Born and raised on Houston’s south side the MexicanBlackbird’s ever growing vinyl collection is as eclectic as the city she hails from. She began spinning records in public for fun in 2011, but has since taken the charge of using her unique background and keen musical knowledge to spread solidarity among Black and Latinx communities. On any given night you can expect to hear a magnetic selection of Funk, Cumbia, Soul, Salsa, Tejano, 80’s Everything, and Boogaloo emanating from the MexicanBlackbird’s system.
