Postponed: Blanc on the Green Presented by Bracewell

Thursday, April 30. 7:30-9:30 pm

The Discovery Green Conservancy, with co-chairs Matthew Burrus and Michael Pearce, Shavonnah Roberts Schreiber and Joe Schreiber, along with honorary chairs Linda and Mark Evans, invite guests to dress in white for a casually elegant evening of art, music, strolling performances, photo opportunities, desserts and the official lighting of the park’s spring public art installation: House of Cards Presented by Bracewell.

Blanc on the Green, presented by Bracewell is aimed at the city’s art-loving crowd and will be a visually, spectacular event to celebrate the park’s vibrant public art program and role as the heart and soul of downtown Houston. Revelers dressed in their white attire will be stunning against the park’s natural backdrop. They will enjoy samples of bitesize desserts, photo opportunities with roaming performers, recycled-material fashions, a DJ, magicians, and more.

The event will also give the crowd the first look at House of Cards Presented by Bracewell, a public-art piece by Israel-based design studio OGE Group before the installation’s public opening on May 1. The installation consists of 126 oversized playing cards, each featuring original artwork, including 20 designed by Houston artists. During the day, the cards’ crisp white lines and colorful images will dazzle; at night, the structure will be illuminated to create the illusion of the house of cards rising and falling. Its first public lighting during Blanc on the Green will be the evening’s pièce de résistance.

All ticket purchases will support the Discovery Green Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

Be a part of the art! During the course of the evening attendees will enjoy watching an artist create a commemorative mural live. For $500 you can have your name added to the wall.

Desserts and bites donated by: Brasserie du Parc, Fat Cat Creamery, The Grotto, Phoenicia, Second Servings, Vic and Anthony’s and Xochi.

Alcohol donated by: Eureka Heights, Cava Don Anastacio Tequila and Deep Eddy Vodka.
