What a Birthday!

Good friends, good food and great music! It was an all-around great 4th birthday party for the park on Friday, April 13. When I arrived with the family in tow around 7 p.m. there were already people staked out on the hill for the Fab 40. Discovery Green and Fab 40 are old friends. One of the first concerts at the park was A Little Help from My Friends: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Live in April 2008 and since then the group of 40+ musicians has drawn record crowds for performances like Abbey Road Recreated (Sept 2009), Pet Sounds (June 2010), and All You Need is Love (May 2011). So, it was only fitting the band serenaded the park on Friday night with “Birthday.”

Friday night was also the unveiling of the H-E-B Celebration Tent with designer Giancarlo Perossa on-hand with family. The tent will be available for rent beginning in May. Our friends from H-E-B also gave out prizes of $100 store gift cards (two of the four were coincidentally won by Fab 40 band members) and 500+ cupcakes to all the kiddos.

Quite a night. We’re already thinking about how to blow it out for the 5th birthday celebration. Stay tuned.
