Happy Hour

Happy Hour is a Houston pastime. It was one of the things I missed most when I moved away from the Bayou City for a few years.

I was craving a patio setting where I could get a refreshing beverage and a few lite bites and enjoy the outdoors. It’s Spring and the weather is gorgeous so as most Houstonians know you have to seize the moment! So, when I found myself with a pair of Astros tickets one Monday evening I headed over to The Grove to meet a friend for a few happy hour libations before the first pitch. We picked a great spot on the patio, sipped on raspberry margaritas, munched on lite bites, enjoyed the shade and people-watched our late afternoon away until the game. With all the trees and the relaxing setting on the deck, one would have never guessed we were in the middle of downtown Houston. And to think, six years ago the same place where I was sitting sipping cocktails on the deck was the site of the park groundbreaking!

I’m excited about the new Grove and Discovery Green launch of Sundown at The Grove’s Treehouse in July with music, light bites and happy hour specials. This restaurant has one of the best views in this city, not to mention drinks, so this happy hour is sure to be a hit this summer.
