How Does Your Garden Grow?

At Discovery Green, we know our gardens grow well!  We have an extremely talented and hardworking group of individuals that maintain and care for our lawns, trees, flower gardens, water plants, and everything in between.  Now we have one more garden to add to our “growing” list: our rooftop garden!  This season was something of an experiment for us, and I’d say it was a great success!  Brian and the operations crew plotted out the space on top of The Grove and filled it with seeds: tomato, pepper, carrot, lettuce, and herbs to name a few.  Over the past month or so, we’ve all pitched in to taste test and offer feedback (you know, quality control) on the different tomato and pepper varieties. Fan favorites are Wapsipinicon Peach, Cherry Roma, and Red Zebra (all heirlooms!).  Pictured above is a “Mortgage Lifter” tomato, weighing in close to 2 lbs and nearly bigger than my hand!  Our summer crop is winding down, and soon it’ll be time to start thinking about fall planting.  Any requests?
