Discovery Green is a 12-acre public park located in downtown Houston across Avenida de las Americas from the George R. Brown Convention Center and the Hilton Americas Hotel. Toyota Center, Houston Center, Minute Maid Park and Houston Pavilions are only blocks away. Although Discovery Green is a public space, it is privately managed by the Discovery Green Conservancy. Admission

Admission to Discovery Green is FREE, and the vast majority of the events in the park are also free. Activities that require a fee are clearly listed on this website. You are welcome to bring picnics, lawn chairs, blankets and even your dogs to the park. Please note that outside alcohol, glass containers, tables and pop up tents are prohibited. Food, beer & wine are available for purchase at The Lake House Cafe.

Hours

Discovery Green is open daily (including holidays) from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Hours for events vary. Areas of the park may be closed occasionally for maintenance or private events. Event Information

With more than 400 events per year, there is something for everyone at Discovery Green! Most events are free and open to the public.

You are welcome to bring picnics, lawn chairs, blankets and even your dogs. There may be events at the park that have licensed space and may have different rules. See the specific event listing.

Information Center at the Alkek Building

Visit the park information center at the Alkek Building, located near the Gateway Fountain on the Andrea and Bill White Promenade. Staff is available to answer questions about the park, programming or rentals seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Public restrooms are located in the Alkek Building under the Stedman West Veranda. Additional restrooms are located in the Convention District Garage, located directly under Discovery Green.
