HPL Express, a product of the Houston Public Library, is located on the east end of the Lake House building. Complimentary Wi-Fi Access is available to park visitors courtesy of the City of Houston.

Due to the impact of the current downturn in our economy, the Library has made the decision to make operational adjustments that better fit its current resources and staffing levels. The change will begin June 1, 2010 and reflect a reduction in service hours affecting all Library locations.  HPL Express at Discovery Green will have the following service hours:

Monday and Tuesday: CLOSED
Wednesday - Saturday: 11am-5pm
Sunday: 1-5pm

These new hours are not permanent, they may change accordingly after a trial period. Please check back often for updates or call 832-393-1375 for more information.

Field Trips & Group Visits

Take a guided tour of Discovery Green from your iPod! Download the FREE tour to your device here.

Field trips are welcome at Discovery Green! While there is no charge to visit the park, we require reservations for groups of 20 or more so that we can ensure that each group has adequate room (this includes groups just wanting to have lunch at the park). Although there may not be activities or events scheduled during early weekday hours, there is much to see and Explore in the Park. Print Art in the Park info.

Fill out the Discovery Green Group Visit Request Form to submit your request. You will receive an email confirmation whether your form is approved or denied. If approved, your email will include group visit rules along with other information and answers to frequently asked questions. Due to the high volume of requests we receive, a response could take several business days.

There may be additional charges for some activities such as, a guided park tour by a staff member ($4/per person; weather and schedule permitting). Tour consists of general information about the park, how the park is "green" and how people can be "green", programming, art, and the gardens. The tour takes approximately 20-30minutes (larger groups will need to be taken in several smaller groups).
