The Ice at Discovery Green

Thank you EVERYONE for making the first season of The Ice at Discovery Green successful. The outdoor ice skating rink welcomed more than 42,000 skaters in just over two months and became a popular holiday destination. Adding a special magic to the season, skaters enjoyed a delightful winter wonderland as Houston experienced its first snow in four years! What a wonderful way to start the first season of The Ice!

Powered by 100% renewable energy, the 7,200 square-foot skating surface of Kinder Lake featured skate, snack and gift shops, as well as the Snow Box—a special, toddler-friendly rink, complete with a visit from Santa.

 The 2009-2010 Skating Season
Outdoor ice skating will return to downtown Houston Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2009 and extends through MLK Day, January 18, 2010.
