Thursdays Rock free outdoor concerts return on May 7
Discovery Green will present its popular free concert series, Thursdays Rock at Discovery Green presented by Capital One Bank with the first event set for May 7. What better way to unwind than to spend an evening at the beautiful downtown Houston park listening to some of the best musicians in Texas? It’s free, so bring a blanket, co-workers, and friends and enjoy live music under the stars.
The diverse line-up of artists is sure to delight music fans of all genres with Texas artists as well as renowned Grammy winners putting on a show each Thursday beginning at 6:30 p.m. Visitors to the park on Sunday afternoons will have an opportunity to enjoy an array of wonderful performances in Sundays in the Park presented by Four Seasons Hotel Houston.
“Since the opening of Discovery Green last April, we have strived to present a diverse and eclectic brand of entertainment to Houstonians and visitors to our city,” said Susanne Theis, programming director. “We are thrilled to welcome recognized artists and introduce some rising stars as well.”

June 4 – Del Castillo with opening act The Umbrella Man
Spanish guitars with corrido cool and Austin flair…Rolling Stone calls Del Castillo “brilliance on nylon-string classical guitars.”
June 11 – Susan Cowsill with opening act Chase Hamblin
Susan Cowsill, 60s icon and Grammy winner, brings a one-two punch with music from her new CD Lighthouse and a start to finish, note-perfect rendition of The Beatles’ Revolver.
June 18 – Paula Nelson Band and Thunderado
Paula Nelson’s apple doesn’t fall far from Papa Willie’s tree, and it tastes just as sweet. Hunter Perrin, John Fogerty’s guitar-slinger, returns home to rock Houston with Thunderado.
June 25 – Moses Guest
Fronted by Houstonian Graham Guest, Moses Guest promises tight musicianship and jams with a Texas-based, Southern rock sound flavored with just the right mix of pop, jazz and funk.

Dining options include the award-winning The Grove and The Lake House. Enjoy hot coffee and a donut from Houston’s Hottest Donuts on the Andrea and Bill White Promenade or spread your blanket on the Jones Lawn and picnic with friends and family.

Discovery Green Conservancy
Discovery Green Conservancy is a private, non-profit organization that operates the park. At the behest of Houston’s Mayor Bill White, the Conservancy was formed in December 2004 and was charged with designing, building and operating Houston’s new urban park which opened in April 2008.
LOCATION
Discovery Green is located at 1500 McKinney in downtown Houston, in front of the George R. Brown Convention Center and the Hilton Americas. The park is just blocks away from Main Street, Minute Maid Park and Toyota Center.
HOURS
Discovery Green is open every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Hours for events may vary. Areas of the park may be closed occasionally for maintenance or private events.
