Dirty Dozen: 4th Annual Ice Sculpting Competition at Discovery Green
January 7, 2012

One dozen acclaimed ice artists from around the country competed for a cash prize, people’s choice award and ice game clout. Ice sculptors used chainsaws, blow torches, razor sharp chisels and talent to transformed blocks of ice into amazing works of art in five hours.

The competition featured ice blocks harvested using more than 1500 gallons of recycled rain water, in keeping with Discovery Green’s mission and following the competition the ice will be used to water the park’s landscaping.

Each year thousands attend this event to watch the carvers battle it out for the grand prize. Music throughout the day was provided by DJ CAPS ONE. The event concluded with the announcement of the winning team as DownFall 2012 performs for a grand finale ice fight between The Reverend Butter and the winning master carvers on the Anheuser-Busch stage.

Congrats to the 2012 winner, Snowflake Sculptors and the CultureMap People's Choice winners, The Blizzard Wizards!
