Become a Park Volunteer
Opening Celebration for Wings of the CityTen Volunteers are needed to help staff the Discovery Green Info booth, hand out brochures describing the exhibit, and to help with the craft table / workshop. Shift is from 6 – 10pm on Friday, September 5th.
Sundown at the GroveTwo Volunteers are needed to help host the weekly happy hour event at the Grove. One Volunteer will stand at the door for Sundown to check wrist bands as well as open the door for guests who have their hands full of their beer flights and food. One Volunteer will stand at the box office table and help hand out wrist bands as well as direct people to the ticket table, keep the line organized, help as needed. Volunteers will be given a ticket to Sundown at the end of their shift, they'll have 30 mins to enjoy the food and have a drink. Great fun for a couple or pair of friends! Volunteers must be 21+ years.
Thursday ConcertsFour Volunteers needed to help set up the Discovery Green Information booth, greet guests as they enter the park, help guide seating on the hill, and help staff the Info booth to distribute brochures, sell merchandise and collect email addresses for the park’s weekly e-blast. Shifts are 6pm – 8:30pm.
Discovery Green Flea by NightVolunteers are needed to help set up a Discovery Green Info booth, give information out to vendors and patrons, and to help in other various ways as necessary. Volunteers are needed before, during and after the Flea Market. Shifts are 4pm - 6pm, 6pm – 8pm, and 8pm – 10pm.
Recycling SaturdaysRecycling at Discovery Green takes place every Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Recycling volunteers help patrons take items out of their cars so they don’t have to park to recycle. Volunteers will also help ensure that the items are put into the correct recycling bins. Volunteers choose between two shifts: 11am - 12:30pm or 12:30pm - 2pm.
Signature EventsThere are a variety of Signature Events at the park. They are generally held on Fridays and Saturdays in the Spring and Fall. Each one is different and unique, so volunteer duties will vary.
General Volunteer InformationVolunteers should arrive about 10-15 minutes before their shift to allow time to go into the office, meet the Discovery Green volunteer leader, get a Volunteer T-shirt and instructions. Parking is $1.25 per hour at the meters around the park Monday through Saturday (and free after 6 p.m.). Parking lots are about $5.00 and up. Always read the posted signs, which supersede any instruction from park staff.
